How to Become an Artist
Artists must at least be thirteen years of age and attend school in the Orleans parish area, Artist must have at least "C' average or better, complete a YA/YA application, interviewed by current YA/YA's, and bring at least one piece of finished art to the interview. Young artist who participate in the organization move in calibrated steps through a classical guild system. Every artist will proceed at its own pace through the system. Artist selected will be required to:
- Maintain C average
- Attend studio 2 days a week
- B average to travel
- Meet with counselor once a month to discuss academics
- Participate in all aspects of program
- Participate in biannual evaluations-end of fall and spring programming (artist evaluate YA/YA and YA/YA evaluates artist)
- Maintain and update personal Vade mecum (artist personal binder)
- Community service
