YAYA Creative Glass
The Creative Glass Center at YAYA!
YAYA has undertaken a thrilling new venture, in partnership with the local glass-art community. The studio formerly run by the New Orleans Creative Glass Institute (on Conti at Carrollton) will remain open with public-access, thanks to a gift of the studio equipment to YAYA, and our commitment to continue serving this vibrant sector of our arts community. Come check out the glass studio, and call 482-6003 for information about classes, sales, and hot shop rentals.
The Clayton-Royer Family Fund and tomorrow's entrepreneurs
YAYA and the Clayton-Royer Family Fund have teamed up to present a simple challenge to local corporations this year: Invest in the professional development of tomorrow's creative thinkers and workers! Clayton-Royer will match each dollar contributed to YAYA by corporations, up to $50,000. Special thanks to Kay Kerrigan for leading the corporate campaign with her usual flair.
Glenn "St. Patrick" Garrison, Jr.
Glenn started working with YAYA in 2002 and graduated from Rabouin High in 2004. Some of his most memorable moments at YAYA include working on the San Francisco Macy's Day Parade Flower Show in 2003 and the Ogden museum fashion show with Uphill. Taking his inspiration from "thoughts and dreams," he uses his dreamworks to process the events both pre and post-Katrina. A variety of Glenn's sculptural mixed-media peices are curently on exhibition at the St. Joe's artist community where he resides. This serious independent artist is developing an ever-growing following. Look for his emotive peices in March during his upcoming residency at 12 Bar!
YAYA is an arts community and teaching design studio dedicated to the artistic, professional, and personal development of creative young people in New Orleans.
